*How are donated funds distributed? We will distribute most proceeds for sculpting, statue bases, and memorial plaques, less minimal  administrative fees of less than 5% for :     1. Legal and bookkeeping expense to keep finances and non profit status current.      2. Fundraising benefit events expense such as small propitiatory payments to volunteers and booth space.     3.Website design and marketing material.    *Are funds raised locally for the statue? One of our project directors will make an attempt to raise funds in the area where the statue is being placed. The dilemna we recognize as fundraisers is that more funds are raised in urban areas than rural remote areas because of economic availability, so we balance fund distribution between the two. We also utilize local media to bring attention to the fundraising project. *How do I apply for a statue of a fallen hero? Contact the Statues program at info@sosfund.us and we will supply you with an application explaining the  application process in detail *Who determines which statues are commissioned to be sculpted first? The statues are commissioned on a first come first serve basis. There are some exceptions such as when the sculptor has a personal relationship with the subjects family or has arranged for the funding for his or her sculpting. *Where are the statues placed? Once completed the statue is given to the family requesting it and they place the statue wherever they like.  We recommend the statues be placed in local  city or county government buildings for maximum exposure and minimal maintenance and vandalism. We have placed statues in colleges, high schools and parks. *Who arranges the unveiling ceremony? We help arrange the unveiling ceremony but usually the family or local government officials make arrangements for a convenient date and time where comrades, family, veterans groups, and commanding officers can attend. The sculptor usually attends and is given recognition for their work. © SOS Fund 2012
